(VOVworld)- Vietnam’s Trade Unions have opened their 11th congress in Hanoi gathering nearly 950 delegates representing 8 million members. Addressing the opening ceremony on Sunday, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong hailed the significant growth of the workers class and their major contribution to social productivity and state budget from all economic sectors:“Vietnam has accelerated industrialization and modernization with strategic tasks of national construction and defense. The Vietnamese workers class has resolute revolutionary values and tradition pioneered by the Communist Party of Vietnam and continued to be the leading class in revolution.”
President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), Dang Ngoc Tung, said that in its upcoming new terms by 2018, the confederation will continue its renovation to serve members and laborers for national development. He expected to have 10 million members by 2018 and 90% of companies with more than 30 workers having trade union: “Trade Union must better be aware of employees’ aspiration  while representing their legitimate interests  and rights and promote the development of trade union in non-state sector, especially foreign invested enterprises.”
