Viettel and Qualcomm will continue to launch R&D projects with the goal of Viettel mastering strategic technologies, including 5G/6G infrastructure, AI-based smart network management, AI processing infrastructure, data center infrastructure, AI solutions for government and businesses, and 5G/6G smart terminals.

These are some of the 11 strategic technologies identified by the Government to help achieve the goal of Vietnam’s digital economy contributing 30% of its GDP by 2030.

Working together since 2009, Viettel and Qualcomm have successfully deployed multiple 3G, 4G, and 5G technology products.

In 2022, the two corporations jointly researched and manufactured 5G Open RAN stations. Just two years later, Viettel became the first partner in the world to put 5G Open RAN stations using Qualcomm chipsets into trial deployment.

In 2025, Viettel is set to deploy 2,000 5G Open RAN stations, affirming its ability to master 5G technology. Viettel has exported the product to the Middle East market, after becoming one of only 6 countries in the world to manufacture 5G network equipment.
