World community supports US-Russia summit on Ukraine
(VOVWORLD) - France said Monday that it sees a chance to resolve the crisis between Russia and Ukraine after Paris proposed a summit meeting between US President Joe Biden and Russia's President Vladimir Putin.

France's Europe Minister Clement Beaune said on Monday that if there is still a chance to avoid a confrontation and build a political and diplomatic solution, they need to take it. He stressed the need to hold a US-Russia summit as soon as possible, but an exact date has not been announced.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov expressed his hope that a US-Russia summit on Ukraine will soon be organized and that Ukraine will be allowed to attend. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba welcomed the proposal of a US-Russia summit and said he hopes it can reduce tensions.
EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said Monday that the EU will support any attempt to arrange further talks between Washington and Moscow. He added that the EU will support anything that makes diplomatic conversations the solution to the crisis.
At a daily briefing in Moscow on Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said a new summit between President Putin and President Biden is possible but there are no "concrete plans" yet.
