The HI section at the Vietnam-Sweden Hospital in Quang Ninh province is treating 27 COVID-19 patients. It was established since the novel coronavirus broke out in Quang Ninh province. Two doctors, 3 nurses, and 1 assistant are assigned to work here. The corridor is very quiet, as we can only hear the sound of machines.

Doctor Bui Thuy Hang of the Gastrointestinal Medicine Department is assigned to work at the HI section. She said: “Child patients can hardly follow pandemic prevention regulations. We guide them to  follow regulations to avoid infecting the surrounding areas. We take care of their meals and wash their clothes. The hospital has provided us with all the necessities and special food on the Lunar New Year holiday, so we feel at home.”

In times of difficulty, the doctors have encouraged each other to increase their sense of responsibility, and support each other. Nguyen Thi Ngen, Deputy Head of the Cardiology Department, said: “This is the first time I’ve been working at the hospital through the Lunar New Year holiday. I don’t know when I can go home. We have made up our minds that we cannot unite with our families during the Lunar New Year holiday. We have encouraged each other to overcome difficulties, and to provide our patients with the best treatment. When the pandemic is contained, and there are no more patients, then we will go home.”

During the Lunar New Year holiday, the Son La General Hospital remains as busy as usual. The hospital has organized a mobile emergency team, equipment, and medicine to  prepare for emergency coronavirus response.

Doctor DoXuân Thu, Director of the Son La General Hospital, said: “We have prepared medicines, equipment, and chemicals for coronavirus tests. Our doctors are always on duty for emergency cases.”

Deputy Director of Da Nang city’s Health Department, Nguyen Tien Hong, led a group of 8 doctors to support the central highlands province of Gia Lai to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We help them trace people who have come into contact with coronavirus patients and manage F1 and F2 people. Our doctors have experience from the previous epidemic in Da Nang city,” said Hong.

Doctor Nguyen Tam Lam from Da Nang city’s CDC said: “Although it was close to Tet, we deemed it our task to continue with a high sense of responsibility. We re-arranged our temporary work and family affairs. Our families encouraged us to stay here, and they will take care of our domestic duties. We all hope the pandemic will be contained soon, so we can return home.”

All Vietnamese people are determined to fight the enemy of coronavirus. We, in the community, honor the devotion and sacrifice of the healthcare professionals who are fighting the virus on the frontline.
