Vietnamese agriculture to become a developmental model
(VOVworld) - The Prime Minister has urged the agricultural sector to speed up reform to become a developmental model in coping with climate change.
Speaking in the 60th anniversary of the Vietnam Agricultural Academy in Hanoi, on Saturday, Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the local agriculture was facing major challenges from slow growth rate and widening income gap against non-agricutural sector:“The academy should prioritize rural infrastructure strategy towards early warnings of adverse weather patterns and pets control to improve institutional capacity and efficient use of materials. It is expected to recommend initiatives to boost land accumulation, product quality improvement, while reducing transaction costs to help households raise income. Land accumulation will facilitate mechanical capacity in the context or rise labor cost and to protect farmers’ interests.”
The Prime Minister urged the Academy to consult green agricultural investment and organic farming as well as sectoral connectivity, research and business starts-up models for graduates.
