Vietnam’s active contributions to AMM 48

(VOVworld) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and the Vietnamese delegation have contributed significantly to discussions at the 48th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

Mr. Minh said that the formation of an ASEAN Community is a strategic change, reflecting the urgent need to increase ASEAN and regional connectivity to reach the goal of peace, stability, and development. He said that ASEAN should increase its connectivity and central role in the region. He asked ASEAN member states to make greater efforts to implement the remaining activities of the 3 pillars, the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity, and the Initiative for ASEAN Integration. He also asked them to deepen partnerships with partner countries, strengthen ASEAN’s role in ensuring peace and security in the region, and address security challenges including the situation in the East Sea. Mr. Minh said that plans of action to implement the ASEAN Vision should have specific solutions and mechanisms to mobilize appropriate resources as well as effective supervisory mechanisms.
