(VOVworld) - At the third plenary session of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development or Rio+20 yesterday, Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan stressed Vietnam’s contributions to sustainable growths over the past decade. Nhan said the Vietnamese Government considers sustainable development a consistent target in its current and future national development strategy. The Vietnamese leader said the conference is of historical significance offering an opportunity for nations around the world to re-affirm the commitments and make new political decisions for the process. Rio+20 is also a venue for global efforts to enhance cooperation and partnership relations in the field. Deputy PM Nhan proposed to the UN establishing green economic centers in various areas of the world. The centers will be in charge of updating indexes of countries in different regions, providing consultancy services on policy construction and implementation for nations, and consolidating UN agencies to improve the best practices for sustainable development goals. Regarding issues relating to the sea, Vietnam calls on the UN to set up systems which could respond to the rise of the sea level by combining technologies, and resources of developed and developing countries.

Also yesterday Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan held separate bilateral working sessions with the Guinean President, the World Bank Managing Director, and the Netherlands’ Minister of European Affairs and International Cooperation.
