The writer, Professor Oscar Natalichio, reviewed significant landmarks in the Vietnam revolution beginning with the establishment of the Indochinese Communist Party founded by President Ho Chi Minh. Initially with only 5,000 members, the Party led the Vietnamese people in the August Revolution, expelling the French colonialists and Japanese fascists. On September 2nd, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. The article examined Vietnam from 1945 to the renewal process which began in 1986, as well as its other achievements.
On Wednesday, Laos’ major newspapers such as Pasaxon, Pathet Lao and Lao Phatthana highlighted the significance of the August Revolution to Vietnam’s revolution. Pasaxon reported that the August Revolution was a great event in the glorious history of Vietnam’s revolution. It was a historical turning point, marking the first time Vietnam’s workers and farmers gained power and set up the first people’s democratic system in Vietnam. According to the Phatthana newspaper, the glorious victory of the August Revolution destroyed colonialism after nearly one hundred years, and established the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, leading Vietnam to a new era of national independence and socialism. The August Revolution is the quintessence of Vietnam’s self-reliance, intelligence, historical and cultural traditions. It added that the achievements over the past 70 years had created an important foundation for Vietnam’s future development.
