(VOVworld) - The Vietnamese Embassy in Russia on Monday received international guests and overseas Vietnamese to pay tribute to General Vo Nguyen Giap. Ambassadors and diplomats representing ASEAN and African countries, France and Poland were among the guests. In the mourning book, Senior Lieutenant Olech Saliukov expressed his respect for the legendary General. Major Colonel Pham Van Xung studies at the Russian Military Academy: “We military students in Russia promise to study hard and bring what we learn overseas back home to contribute to the nation. We promise to do our best to be worthy of the great contributions and glorious feats of arms that the General gave us”.

The Vietnamese mission to the United Nations held a respect-paying service and made available a funeral book for General Vo Nguyen Giap in New York from October 11-13. In their notes, the ambassadors and heads of the missions of China, Laos, India, Algeria and Venezuela extended their deepest condolences over the death of General Giap, Vietnam’s outstanding revolutionist, leader and symbol of the struggle against invaders and for national independence. Javis Tyner, Executive Vice Chairman of the Communist Party of the US, wrote in the funeral book that General Giap’s passing is a great loss for mankind. The Vietnamese Embassy in China received more than 60 delegations that came to bid final farewells to Vietnam’s first General over the past few days. Services for General Giap have also been held in the Vietnamese Embassies in Argentina, Australia, Venezuela, Egypt, Norway, Germany, Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Morocco, and the Vietnamese General Consulate in Battambang, Cambodia, drawing a large number of overseas Vietnamese and foreign delegations.
