(VOVWORLD) - In the first days of the new year, the roar of construction machinery can be heard in new residential areas in Lien Chieu and Cam Le wards. High-rise buildings marked as “social housing” are steadily taking shape, a testament to Da Nang city’s commitment to inclusive urban development.

Da Nang considers social housing development a top priority of its urban strategy. Facing the pressure of population growth and rising demand for housing among workers and young civil servants, the city has allocated land and resources and adopted special mechanisms to drive the housing sector forward.
Investment, land, planning, and construction procedures have been streamlined.
Investors see the municipal government sharing risks and encouraging participation. Low-income citizens are finally getting a place to call home.
At the end of January, Vo Thi Phuong was among the first 92 people in Da Nang with meritorious service to the revolution to receive social housing apartments.
“I’m very happy to have a beautiful, airy house. I’d like to thank the city for caring for national contributors like us,” said Phuong.
Le Minh Tuan, another beneficiary, said, “Everyone is excited to have a new home. My family is grateful to the municipal authorities, and we hope this incentive will continue to help other families in need.”

Da Nang has the most social housing projects funded by the local budget in Vietnam. Between 2005 and 2024, the city built 18,500 social housing units. Social housing areas have new infrastructure and are located near industrial zones, schools, and healthcare facilities, and are accessible to public transportation.
According to Huynh Thi Le, a worker at the Hoa Cam Industrial Park, “Life is comfortable here. There are play areas, a cultural house, and a library for both adults and children. We like it very much.”
In response to the Prime Minister’s project to construct at least one million social housing units for low-income earners and industrial park workers between 2025 and 2030, Da Nang aims to build 29,000 new homes. 134 hectares of land have already been earmarked.

Last year, Da Nang completed 2,900 units - 108% of the target set by the Government - and has begun dozens of other projects, aiming for nearly double the 2025 target.
Nguyen Ha Nam, Director of the municipal Department of Construction, said incentive policies have been in place for social housing projects to minimize the time needed for related procedures.
“We are removing obstacles to accelerate social housing projects already assigned to investors, aiming to complete construction of 4,900 apartments this year to meet the Government's target,” said Nam.
Da Nang is one of the nation’s leading localities in social housing development. For many workers, a social housing apartment is the foundation for building a career and nurturing their family’s future. Prioritizing social housing reflects Da Nang’s humane development mindset: economic growth must go hand in hand with social security.
