(VOVWORLD) - The 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress will be held in Hanoi on Friday and Saturday. This is a major socio-political event of profound significance which aims to inspire the aspiration to build a prosperous and powerful Vietnam.

At every turning point in Vietnam’s revolutionary journey, patriotic emulation movements have served as a vital driving force for social transformation, from campaigns promoting production during wartime to movements encouraging creativity at work in times of peace, renewal, and international integration.
Today, as development goals shift from “moving forward” to advancing rapidly, sustainably, and in step with global trends, patriotic emulation is being renewed in content and approach, generating fresh momentum for national development.
Closely aligned with national development tasks
In recent years, the spirit of patriotic emulation has been translated into tangible results through effective economic models, administrative reform initiatives and breakthroughs in science, technology, education, healthcare, and social welfare. It has been reflected in key infrastructure projects, including works described as “unprecedented in scale,” “first of their kind,” and of “historic significance.”
Speaking at the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony for 234 key national projects on December 19, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh said: "Widespread implementation of these movements has created strong momentum for action, spreading a sense of responsibility and bringing visible changes to the national infrastructure landscape. Many projects have been completed ahead of schedule, providing a critical foundation for fast, sustainable national development in the new period."
Emulation movements have been closely aligned with development goals throughout sectors and localities. They are no longer formalistic movements, but a genuine driving force that awakens a spirit of dedication, responsibility, and aspiration in every collective and individual, as affirmed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
PM Chinh said: "These movements generate real effectiveness, tangible benefits, and core values, reaffirming the nation’s proud historical and cultural traditions, while inspiring development and expressing patriotism through concrete actions in every sector, every task, and every individual."
When emulation movements match development priorities, the people are the ultimate beneficiaries.
Witnessing the first-ever connection to the national power grid, Nguyen Thi Phuong, a resident of Residential Area 7 in the Con Dao Special Zone, said: "We’re very happy to have access to the national power grid. Local people now have the confidence to expand tourism services, invest further, and stabilize their livelihoods because we have access to a stable power supply."
Across the country, emulation movements to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing, promote innovation and productivity, master science and technology, accelerate digital transformation, develop a green economy and a circular economy, and build streamlined, effective institutions are all closely tied to national development tasks, awakening in every citizen the aspiration to contribute.
Creating momentum for the future
Against this backdrop, the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress, themed “Emulation for Innovation and Creativity, Accelerating Breakthroughs to Usher the Nation into an Era of Powerful, Civilized, and Prosperous Development,” is expected to generate fresh momentum to fulfill socio-economic development goals and strengthen defense and security in the 2026-2030 period.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy said: "The Congress demonstrates the strong political determination of the Party and State to uphold the tradition of patriotic emulation, which is regarded as a key to mobilizing the combined strength of the political system, the business community, and the people in national construction and development."
The National Patriotic Emulation Congress is not just about honoring achievements, it’s a call to action, a rallying cry, for every individual and collective to recognize their responsibility and role in the cause of national development.
