On Saturday, Vietnam’s Pham Thi Hue debuted in the rowing qualifying round’s women's single sculls heat. She finished fourth in 8 minutes 3 seconds 84. The Vietnamese rower will compete in the repechage on Sunday. The repechage offers athletes who were knocked out in the early rounds a second chance to qualify for later matches.

Meanwhile, judoka Hoang Thi Tinh was eliminated from the Paris Olympics after losing 0-1 to reigning African champion Oumaima Bedioui of Tunisia in the the women's 48kg category.
