National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man speaks at conference reviewing the March 15 election for the National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels, Hanoi, March 31, 2026. |
He made the remarks at a national conference reviewing the election in Hanoi on Tuesday.
“This is an important milestone in our national development process, as we continue to advance the building of a law-governed socialist state of the people, by the people and for the people; further reform the organizational structure; and accelerate the application of information technology, digital transformation and artificial intelligence across all aspects of social life,” said Mr. Man.
In the election, voters nationwide elected 500 deputies to the National Assembly, 2,552 deputies to provincial-level People’s Councils, and 72,438 deputies to commune-level People’s Councils.

Speaking at the conference, Party General Secretary To Lam said the election left a significant mark as a convergence of the Party’s will, the people’s support and the aspiration for national development. He noted that the new National Assembly and People’s Councils must embody renewal, action and effectiveness, while maintaining a close connection with the people.
“Ultimately, the most important lesson is that the success of an election is only truly complete when it is translated into effective performance in the new term. Voters’ ballots do not end on election day; they must be carried forward through the quality of legislation, the effectiveness of oversight, and sound, timely decisions that meet the country’s development needs in the new period,” said Party leader To Lam.
