[VOVWORLD] - The “Lotus in May” art exhibition brings together artists and art lovers while conveying a heartfelt tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh.
An art exhibition titled “Lotus in May” opens at the Ho Guom Information and Culture Center in Hanoi to mark the 51st anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975) and the 136th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890).
The exhibition centers on the lotus flower, a symbol of purity and elegance closely associated with the life and legacy of President Ho Chi Minh.
Contemporary artists including Thuy Huong, Nguyen Thi Thu, Ta Thi Thanh Tam, Le Huong, Vuong Manh Lan and Dao Van Tuan present lotus-themed works in silk, oil, lacquer and do paper.
Each artist brings a distinct style, from delicate silk compositions to expressive oil paintings inspired by the flower that carries Vietnamese soul.
Ngo Thi Thuy Duong, head of the management board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter, says the exhibition combines contemporary creativity with cultural heritage to offer a renewed artistic interpretation of the lotus.
The diversity of materials and styles, ranging from realism to abstraction, creates a rich artistic space highlighting the lotus and its humanistic values.
There's a 10-meter calligraphy scroll on which visitors write messages and autography.
Artist Huong Le says the messages collected on the scroll will later be transformed into a collaborative artwork to be presented to soldiers stationed in the Truong Sa special administrative zone, symbolizing ties between the mainland and the islands. The exhibition runs through May 25, 2026.
