The festival is organized by Vietnam’s National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio in cooperation with EUNIC, the network of European Union National Institutes for Culture, and the embassies of some European countries.
The lineup includes 11 films from the UK, Finland, Austria, Italy and other countries, nine produced by the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio, and five by independent Vietnamese filmmakers. Some of the works have won international awards.
Meritorious Artist Trinh Quang Tung, Deputy Director General in charge of the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio, said: “The selected films are of very high artistic quality, featuring contemporary life, particularly stories about women and children. Vietnamese filmmakers have changed significantly following exchanges with their colleagues from around the world at the European-Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival. After each edition, they have gradually moved closer to international filmmaking styles, particularly in their storytelling.”
In Hanoi: The films will be screened at National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio Cinema, 465 Hoang Hoa Tham Street. In Ho Chi Minh City: They are available at DCINE Ben Thanh, 6 Mac Dinh Chi Street, Ho Chi Minh City. All screenings are open to the public free of charge.
