The opening ceremony showcased the rich cultural identities of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups, alongside performances by artistic troupes from China, Russia, Peru, and South Korea.
Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra said the convergence of cultural heritage helps harmoniously blend diverse cultural expressions and enrich the shared treasury of human civilization.
“The festival brings people together to foster understanding, strengthen connections, and promote shared development. It reflects our common commitment to preserving and passing on cultural heritage while encouraging creativity to enrich the cultural values of each nation and of humanity as a whole,” she said.
The festival creates an international cultural space that connects Vietnam and the world, promoting cultural exchange and deeper mutual understanding, Deputy PM Tra noted. “Above all, it provides an opportunity for us to work together toward building a peaceful, humane, prosperous, and sustainable world.”
At the ceremony, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre Lazare Eloundou Assomo said the festival offers an opportunity to experience other cultures firsthand through music, storytelling, and craftsmanship.
He underscored the vital role of culture in societal development and its power to help nations find common ground.
