The awards ceremony was the highlight of the 2026 Vietnam Farmers’ Pride programme, organised by the Vietnam Farmers’ Union. The honorees represent innovative approaches to agricultural production, including green, circular and organic farming, climate change adaptation, high-tech agriculture and digital transformation. They have also introduced inventions, improved farming methods and adopted sustainable production processes.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung said the 14th National Party Congress had set out a vision for transforming rural economic structures towards greener, more ecological and circular models built around value chains. He stressed the need to develop a modern, well-rounded farming community with strong aspirations, self-reliance and the capacity to drive innovation.
“We must continue to fully understand and promptly implement the Politburo’s Conclusion 219 on agriculture, farmers and rural development through 2030, with a vision to 2045. This requires a fundamental shift from agricultural production to an agricultural economy, with greater emphasis on quality, added value, branding and markets rather than output alone. We must restructure agricultural production along value chains, accelerate the application of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, and build modern rural areas that are prosperous and retain their distinctive character,” said Mr. Dung.
Over 14 years, from 2013 to 2026, the Vietnam Farmers’ Pride program has honored 1,052 outstanding farmers and 126 exemplary cooperatives, while promoting a new generation of knowledgeable, dynamic and innovative farmers who can master modern technology.
