Under the project, Phu Quoc aims to attract about 7.4 billion USD in total social investment during the 2026-2030 period. By 2030, the island expects to welcome around 15 million visitors, earning a total revenue of more than 2.5 billion USD.

The project reflects Vietnam’s policies on developing the marine economy and tourism, and reforming governance models for areas with distinctive characteristics, while safeguarding national defense, security, and sovereignty over the national seas and islands.

It also seeks to ensure the effective use of facilities built for the 2027 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting after the event and promote balanced development between Phu Quoc and other localities in the Mekong Delta.
