The week-long competition attracted 5,000 athletes and participants from 90 countries and territories. It was organized by Sunrise Events Vietnam, Da Nang People's Committee, and the municipal Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and sponsored by VNG.
Meng Yang of China and Joji Nitta of Japan took second and third places for men's full-distance category. Hope Hoffman of the US became the champion in the women's full-distance category, while Beibei Qiao and Siming Ji, both from China, took the second and third places.
Meanwhile, in the VNG IRONMAN 70.3 Danang, Rodrigo Acevedo from the Isle of Man finished first, followed by Lam Quang Nhat of Vietnam and Ryosuke Ohata from Japan. Daniela Rodriguez of Colombia led the women's event, followed by Hyekyeong Seo of South Korea and Ines Caby of France. This year is also the 10th anniversary of the VNG IRONMAN 70.3 Danang.
VNG IRONMAN Vietnam consisted of a 3.8 km swim, 180 km cycling course, and 42 km run.
VNG IRONMAN 70.3 Da Nang featured a 1.9 km swim, 90 km cycling course, and 21 km run.
