The vessel was reportedly struck by an unidentified weapon while sailing from the Persian Gulf toward open waters. The attack caused a small fire and knocked out the vessel’s power. The problems were quickly resolved, with no casualties reported, and the tanker continued its voyage. The vessel’s flag and destination were not disclosed, and no party has claimed responsibility.

It was the second reported tanker attack in the Strait of Hormuz in two days.

Iranian media had earlier reported that a large oil tanker was attacked while using a route through the strait that had not been authorized by Tehran. The vessel caught fire and was unable to continue its voyage.
