ASEM conference agrees on further joint effort for climate change response

(VOVWORLD) -The Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) conference on climate change response toward sustainability in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho has discussed development issues, the ability to adapt to climate change, and Asia-Europe cooperation in the matter.

At the closing session Wednesday, participants agreed on solutions to boost cooperation within ASEM and ASEM’s contributions to global efforts to implement the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, the Paris agreement on climate change, and comprehensive approaches and consensus in thinking and action in climate change response.

ASEM countries agreed to continue to provide financial and technical support for developing members to handle climate change challenges. They pledged to work together to reduce plastic release in to the sea and support global efforts in the field.

The conference adopted a report to submit to the 12^th ASEM summit in Brussels in October.
