Vietnam's silver medal of the day went to Dinh Van Tam in wushu. He lost to China's Ou Jiaming in the men's 56kg Sanshou final.
Rowing was the sport that yielded the most medals for Vietnam on Thursday, contributing four bronze medals. Pham Thi Ngoc Anh, Le Thi Hien, Ha Thi Vui, and Du Thi Bong finished third in the women's coxless four event. Tran Thi Tu Uyen and Pham Thi Bich Ngoc won bronze in the women's heavyweight double sculls.
The remaining two rowing bronze medals went to the pair Dinh Thi Hao and Pham Thi Hue in the women's coxless pair event, and the quartet of Tran Duong Nghia, Thai Bao Toan, Hoang Van Dat, and Nguyen Phu in the men's coxless four event.
Vietnam on Thursday ranked 20th on the overall medal table, with one gold, one silver, and 14 bronze medals. China led the medal tally with 80 gold, 20 silver, and 20 bronze medals. In second place was the host nation, Japan, with 20 gold, 34 silver, and 37 bronze medals.
