At a meeting with Australian Governor-General Peter Cosgrove on Friday, Mr. Phong urged Australia to strengthen people-to-people exchanges and cooperation in education, trade, high-tech agriculture, and innovation with Ho Chi Minh City. He said he hoped the Governor-General, will support Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City in particular to promote reforms, international integration, and national development.
Mr. Cosgrove praised the city’s development and its cooperation with Australia. He asked the two sides to boost cooperation in tourism by opening direct air routes. The same day, Mr. Cosgrove visited the level-2 field hospital No. 1, based at the Military Hospital 175 in the city.
