At an official welcome ceremony and talks with President Trump at the White House, President Xi said making China-US relations a stable, constructive strategic relationship reflects the reality of bilateral ties and embodies expectations for the future. He urged both sides to transform this vision into action by pursuing “a path centered on cooperation, with managed competition, controlled differences, and prospects for peace.”
“China and the United States are major AI powers and therefore have both the capability and responsibility to ensure that its development remains under human control and benefits people,” said President Xi.
Mr. Xi asked Washington to handle the Taiwan issue prudently, saying that would provide a solid foundation for strategic cooperation and the long-term development of bilateral relations. He expressed support for the US and Iran returning to the agreement they reached in Islamabad and said he hopes they will resolve their differences through dialogue and negotiation.
