Chinese President Xi Jinping warns of “red line” for Hong Kong

(VOVWORLD) - China’s President Xi Jinping said on Saturday that Beijing consistently pursues “One Country, Two Systems” model for Hong Kong but laid down a “red line” for any challenge to relations between the mainland China and Hong Kong as the city marked 20 years since it was handed back by Britain.

Xi was speaking at the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong return to China and the swearing in of the new Hong Kong administration. President Xi said that the “One Country, Two Systems” model ensures the interests of Hong Kong people, fundamental national interests and Chinese people’s aspiration.
