Fishermen in Dong Hai Commune and Hiep Thanh Ward observed a case from the initial violation through the trial proceedings to the court’s verdict, helping them better understand fisheries regulations.
They also received information leaflets and guidance on safe offshore operations, storm avoidance and compliance with state regulations, and took part in legal discussions on combating IUU fishing.
On the occasion, the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 presented national flags and gifts to participants.
Meanwhile, in Lam Dong Province, authorities have stepped up fleet management, vessel entry and exit controls, and the monitoring of fishing vessels through mobile applications, contributing to national efforts to have the European Commission’s “yellow card” warning lifted.
Boat owners and captains now complete registration procedures and voyage log declarations via smartphone applications.
“We strictly comply with departure and arrival procedures. The electronic logbook is activated as soon as we head out to sea, and the vessel monitoring system remains on around the clock,” said a local fisherman.
A vessel owner said, “All procedures are completed through the mobile app. As soon as it is activated, the app automatically updates my coordinates, even without a mobile signal or internet connection.”
