The draft law introduces 12 new articles, amends and supplements 79 existing provisions, and repeals five others. The Standing Committee asked the drafting agency to consider adjusting certain conditions for applying summary procedures to better reflect current socio-economic and technological developments.
National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh stressed the need to further refine the draft before it is submitted to the National Assembly at its first extraordinary session.
“The draft Code should continue to be improved before being presented to the legislature. At the same time, it is necessary to review the provisions to ensure consistency with relevant international treaties and the 2013 Constitution,” he said.
Vice Chairman Dinh added that further examination is needed to guarantee coherence, compatibility, and synchronization between the Criminal Procedure Code, the revised Criminal Code, and other laws related to the judicial sector.
