This is the first time the festival has been organized at the provincial level, providing a broader platform for Dak Lak to promote its durian industry, strengthen connections between producers and markets, and showcase the cultural and tourism attractions of the Central Highlands and coastal regions.
Do Huu Huy, Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee, stressed that the province is shifting its focus from managing agricultural output to maximizing agricultural value.
He noted that the key question is no longer how many tons are produced, but how much value is generated per hectare, how much income reaches farmers, how deeply businesses participate in the value chain, and how the Dak Lak brand is positioned in international markets.
A the opening ceremony, Dak Lak received two Vietnam Records: one for the largest durian papooh model in Vietnam and another for preparing and presenting the largest number of durian-based dishes in the country.
Dak Lak currently has around 41,000 hectares of durian plantations, with output in the 2026 harvest season expected to reach nearly 500,000 tons. In 2025, the province generated 1.1 billion USD in durian export revenue.
