Under the direction of Vietnam's Party and State leaders, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense dispatched an 82-member rescue contingent, together with equipment, supplies and search dogs, to assist Venezuela in responding to the disaster.
Working closely with local authorities, the Vietnamese team rescued dozens of victims trapped beneath collapsed structures and handed them over to Venezuelan authorities. They also provided on-site medical assistance while ensuring the absolute safety of all personnel.
General Giang said the mission demonstrated Vietnam's noble spirit of international solidarity and humanitarian tradition, and the distinguished qualities of the "Uncle Ho's Soldiers" on the international stage.
