Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang made the call on Friday at a meeting in the US with representatives of around 60 US companies, financial institutions and investors in banking, digital technology, cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, energy, aviation and logistics.
The participants included Visa, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, Qualcomm, Caterpillar and Atlas Air.
Deputy PM Thang urged US businesses to help Vietnamese companies join global supply chains, adding that Vietnam will continue to work with investors, listen to their concerns and address their problems in the spirit of balancing interests and sharing risks.
Mr. Thang also called on US businesses to help boost balanced, sustainable and practical trade and economic ties between Vietnam and the US and support talks on a reciprocal trade agreement.
US businesses praised Vietnam’s socio-economic growth, reforms and efforts to simplify procedures as well as its focus on science, technology and innovation, describing Vietnam as a promising market with strong growth, a growing middle class, skilled workers and an open business environment.
The Vietnamese delegation earlier visited Amazon Web Services’ headquarters.
