Directed by the late People’s Artist Le Manh Thich, “In a Wheelchair” gives deeply moving glimpses of the lives of wounded soldiers who have returned from the battlefield.
The wheelchair, which serves as a recurring symbol throughout the film, not only reflects the hardships and losses faced by war veterans in their daily lives, but also highlights their perseverance, extraordinary resilience, and desire to continue contributing to society.
“This film made a deep impression on me. The soldiers in wheelchairs live with extraordinary resilience. They don’t give in to sadness, but keep striving to integrate into the community and adapt to modern life. This film shows us the pain caused by war, helps young people understand the sacrifices made by previous generations, and reminds us to honor war veterans,” said Hoang Nguyen Trong Dung from Nghe An province.
One of the people featured in the film is Pham Hong Tu, a tactical combat engineer and a war invalid with a 91% disability rating.
He said, “People’s Artist Le Manh Thich made this film to document how wounded soldiers like us live in our everyday lives. We were deeply moved when we watched the film. It left many images in our hearts and encouraged us to overcome our injuries and disabilities. We are truly touched.”
