Delegates began the first day by laying wreaths and paying tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and offering incense to revolutionary martyrs at their memorial on Bac Son Street.

A preparatory session was held later the same day at the National Convention Center. In attendance were delegates from all social strata, ethnicities, and religions, including 18 representatives of the overseas Vietnamese communities.

They elected the Presidium and Secretariat of the Congress, adopted the working agendas and regulations, and were given detailed reviews of the VFF Central Committee, Presidium, and Standing Board of the Central Committee's works for the 2024–2026 term. Delegates were also presented with proposals to amend and supplement the VFF's Charter.

They then discussed key focuses for the new term, as well as the overarching theme “Enhancing the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Core Political Role in Promoting Democracy, Patriotism, and the Strength of Great National Unity to Build a Prosperous, Strong, Civilized, and Happy Nation,” at 5 dedicated discussion centers.

Dr. Ha Son Tung, a young scientist from Singapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research, and one of the attending delegates, said: "I really appreciate the fact that digital transformation, science and technology, and innovation are now considered strategic breakthroughs in Vietnam's new stage of development. I hope the Vietnam Fatherland Front will help promote patriotism and encourage overseas Vietnamese to contribute to their homeland.”

All activities on the first working day of the VFF's 11th National Congress reached high consensus and laid an important foundation for the official opening session on Tuesday. The 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front is expected to become a major milestone for the country and demonstrate the strength of the great national unity bloc in the new era.
