Mr. Lam said the two sides should maximize their complementary strengths to enhance their new cooperation framework.
PM Lecornu said France will speak up in support of Vietnam’s efforts to have the EC’s IUU yellow card lifted and to be removed from the list of non-cooperative jurisdictions for tax purposes. He said France has always regarded Vietnam as an important partner in its Indo-Pacific strategy.
The two leaders pledged to promote delegation exchanges, establish new cooperation mechanisms commensurate with their bilateral ties, and expeditiously implement the Vietnam-France Action Plan for 2026-2028.
They agreed to continue implementing and capitalizing on the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), to increase bilateral trade in a balanced way by further opening their markets for each other’s strongest products, to deepen cooperation in culture, education, training, healthcare, and local ties, and promote new cooperation in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
The two sides also pledged to continue closely coordinating and supporting each other at the UN, UNESCO, the International Organisation of La Francophonie, and within the ASEAN-EU framework.
