German scholars appreciate Vietnam’s role in ASEAN

(VOVWORLD) -German scholars said Vietnam plays an important role in ASEAN development. In an interview with Vietnam New Agency in Berlin, Dr Gerhard Will, an expert on Southeast Asia, and Dr. Thomas Engelbert of the Asia-Africa Institute, said ASEAN had obtained plenty of political, economical, and security achievements over the past half century.

They said that Vietnam had escaped from isolation to integrate in East Asia, make efforts to improve relationships with neighboring countries. They also maintained that Vietnam has pursued positive policies and deepened its participation in ASEAN, and that the world appreciated Vietnam’s diversification of relations in recent years.
