Chairing a national conference in Hanoi on Thursday to review the 2025-2026 academic year and set priorities for the year ahead, the Prime Minister praised the sector’s preparations, including transparent and fair admissions, upgraded schools and teaching equipment, adequate textbooks and measures to strengthen professional support for teachers and the use of information technology.
But he said education must focus on more than academic performance, paying more attendtion to ethics, life skills, students’ physical and mental health, school culture and safety.
The PM also called for stronger efforts to train high-quality human resources and align education with businesses and labour-market needs. Scientific research, he said, should be translated more effectively into technologies, products, inventions and added value.
He urged closer links among schools, businesses, ministries, local authorities and the labor market and called on local governments to provide greater support for staffing, school facilities and teaching equipment.
Describing education and training as a national priority, Mr. Hung said the 2026-2027 school year carries high expectations for meaningful change as the ultimate goal is better learners, better teachers, better schools and better-quality human resources for the country.
