The master plan is considered a basis for creating new development spaces, generating long-term growth momentum, and enhancing the capital's competitiveness in the region and the world.
It aims to fundamentally transform Hanoi into a "cultural-civilized-modern-happy" city by 2035, becoming a leading economic, educational, medical, and innovation center in the Asia-Pacific region. By 2045, it aims to be a convergence of global knowledge and technology, on par with the capitals of developed countries. By 2065 and beyond, it aims to become a global city, belonging to the group of international capitals with the highest quality of life and happiness in the world.
Architect Tran Ngoc Chinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association, said: “A very new idea in the current master plan is multi-layered and multi-tiered. In my opinion, it is much different from previous plans. The 100-year master plan of the capital city is oriented towards culture, civilization, and modernity.”
At the conference to announce the master plan, Hanoi city launched a data management system and 360-degree digitization of investment projects, and a digital exhibition space showcasing the planning, key projects, and socio-economic development achievements of Hanoi.
The Hanoi master plan with a 100-year vision will be on display at the Hanoi Museum, providing visual access to the capital's new development directions for the next century.
