The event mobilized social resources to support the education of those children and provide them assistance as they grow up. The program of music, stories, and fund-raising sought to keep alive the pandemic’s spirit of mutual support.
Tran Nien of Cho Quan ward is moved to say, "Images from the COVID-19 period brought back so many emotions from that time. I hope that, over time, the pain of loss will fade, and people will return to normal life, surrounded by the love and support of the community to get through this together."
Minh Quang of Binh Hung Hoa ward told VOV that her husband died during the COVID-19 pandemic. Watching the program stirred up strong emotions, she said. "Since I became my children's sole support, I’ve had to stay strong to give them hope and a sense of security. Taking care of my children and raising them well is my way of honoring the memory of my late husband," Quang told VOV.
On this occasion, 200 children orphaned by COVID-19 were given gifts. The program took in 700,000 USD in donations from organizations and individuals to continue supporting and caring for children orphaned by the pandemic.
