Pham Dut Diem, director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs, told reporters on Friday that 36 delegations from local governments and international partners across Asia, Europe, America, and Oceania had confirmed their participation as of Thursday.
The highlight will be the Mayors' Conference next Friday, focusing on the role of local governments in national foreign policy and cooperation through international city networks. Two follow-up sessions will discuss innovation-driven development, research commercialisation, green ports and logistics, as well as sustainable supply chains.
“A key agenda item will be discussions on the possible establishment of a multilateral cooperation mechanism for Ho Chi Minh City. The mechanism would enable participants to exchange experience and information, address common seaport development issues, promote logistics connectivity, and develop sustainable supply chains, creating new momentum for local-level multilateral cooperation,” said Mr. Diem.
Ho Chi Minh City will unveil a new look for the International Friendship Symbol at Bach Dang Wharf Park, with its sister localities increasing from 58 to 88 worldwide.
