Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday warned of serious consequences for regional and global security if tensions continue. In a phone call late on Sunday evening with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pezeshkian criticized Washington’s conduct, citing continued breaches of commitments and bullying and unreasonable behavior during negotiations and the ceasefire period. He condemned the US’s actions in the so-called naval blockade of Iran as provocative and illegal and a clear violation of the ceasefire and contrary to the United Nations Charter.
President Trump said US negotiators have headed to Pakistan for the next round of peace talks with Iran even though Iran has not confirmed its participation. He said he expects a new deal with Iran that is better than the 2025 nuclear deal agreed with Iran by the P5+1 group (the US, the UK, France, China, Russia, and Germany).
