According to IRNA, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Tehran also requested the lifting of US sanctions, the release of all frozen Iranian assets abroad, and an end to maritime blockades targeting Iran.
This is the first time Iran has publicly disclosed the main contents of its latest proposal to Washington. However, observers noted that the demands differ little from a previous proposal rejected by US President Donald Trump last week.
A Pakistani source confirmed that Pakistan, acting as an intermediary between the United States and Iran, had conveyed Tehran’s new proposal to Washington. However, the source said both sides have continued changing their negotiating demands while “time is running out.”
Meanwhile, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari stated that the Pakistan-mediated negotiations between the US and Iran would require more time to reach an agreement.
