The "sanctions zone" will extend from Chabahar in Iran to parts of the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea, according to IRGC.
On Monday, Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, announced the Islamic Republic’s decision to establish a new exclusion zone across portions of the Persian Gulf, which will include the Strait of Hormuz.
Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz continue. Iran said Wednesday it had attacked 10 vessels near the Strait after the US attacked 5 Iranian oil tankers. The attacks sent the price of oil surging, with benchmark Brent crude futures breaching 100 USD a barrel for the first time since July 2026.
