Historical documents are a key focus of the proposed collection, including royal administrative records, imperial decrees, ancient texts, maps, nautical charts, and archival materials related to the establishment and defense of Vietnam’s sovereignty over the archipelago. The museum is also seeking memorabilia of military personnel who fought and lost their lives in Truong Sa.
In addition, the campaign calls for donations of fishing equipment, documents on fishing grounds around Truong Sa, materials highlighting the close ties between Khanh Hoa fishermen and the archipelago, and artifacts associated with the traditional worship of Ca Ong (the Whale God).
After 2027, the museum plans to organize exhibitions showcasing the collected materials and to honor organizations and individuals who have contributed to the campaign.
Construction of the Truong Sa Museum began on April 29, 2026, in Cam Lam Commune, Khanh Hoa Province, marking the 51st anniversary of the liberation of the Truong Sa Archipelago. It is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2028.
The museum is being built on a site covering more than 1.7 hectares along Cam Ranh Bay, bordered by the sea to the east and the Gac Ma Soldiers’ Memorial to the west.
Its permanent exhibitions will feature five themes: Truong Sa’s diverse and rich natural environment; Truong Sa’s strategic significance; Truong Sa in history; the vitality of Truong Sa; and Truong Sa as an economic, cultural, and social hub.
