The meeting will mark the first US-Lebanon summit since 2009 and comes as Lebanon and Israel continue negotiations to end hostilities and restore lasting peace.
According to Lebanese officials, the two leaders are expected to discuss bilateral relations, Lebanon's security and economic situation, and efforts to preserve the US-brokered ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel. The talks are also expected to focus on advancing negotiations between the two neighboring countries.
Fighting between Israeli forces and Hezbollah first erupted on October 8, 2023, a day after the conflict in Gaza began. A ceasefire reached in late November 2024 remained largely in effect until the end of February 2026. However, hostilities resumed in early March 2026 following the outbreak of the U.S.- and Israeli-led military campaign against Iran, and clashes have continued since then.
