At a ceremony at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Tran Duc Tai, the head of the team, said they examined and treated more than 2,200 patients and performed more than 30 emergency surgeries.
Major General Pham Manh Thang, director of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations, said the hospital earned the full trust of the mission in South Sudan as a reliable healthcare provider.
The Vietnamese peacekeepers received high praise from local patients and international colleagues, General Thang said, for its sense of responsibility, expertise, dedication, attentiveness, and professionalism.
It worked closely with mission agencies on civil-military cooperation activities, strengthening relations between the UN mission and local residents and authorities.
Level 2 Field Hospital Rotation 7 was officially deployed to the UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan in September 2025.
It comprises 63 personnel from Military Regions 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9; Corps 3 and 4; Military Hospital 175; Military Central Hospital 108; the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations; and other military units.
