“The forum, first and foremost, serves as a platform for disseminating the Party’s Resolution 20 on building Vietnam into a maritime nation. It also seeks to strengthen links between domestic and international stakeholders to enhance policy coordination, share ideas, and propose solutions for the effective implementation of the resolution,” said Nguyen Hung Son, President of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam.
Discussions focused on finance, investment, infrastructure, marine science and technology, ecosystem protection, and human resources.
Pauline Tamesis, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Vietnam, affirmed that the UN stands ready to support Vietnam in mobilizing partnerships and financial resources while ensuring that the benefits of sustainable marine development reach coastal and island communities.
The next phase of ocean governance depends on connecting UNCLOS, the BBNJ Agreement, climate frameworks, SCG 14, and regional cooperation into one architecture,” she said.
“This is where the United Nations can add value. Just as Vietnam is building one maritime space, one action plan, and one coordination mechanism, the UN system in Vietnam works as one in support of those priorities.”
