Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang said the WMD non-proliferation law will provide a solid legal foundation for proactively preventing and detecting risks at an early stage and responding to them promptly.

The law will contribute to protecting Vietnam’s independence, sovereignty, and national security, maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, and reaffirming the country’s consistent responsibility and commitment to relevant international treaties and United Nations Security Council resolutions.

National Assembly deputies strongly backed the amendments to the nine laws on military and national defence affairs, saying they are designed to ensure consistency with the two-tier local administration model and support the goal of building a streamlined, strong, revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern military.
