During a working session with the Navy and a field inspection of Submarine Brigade 189 at Cam Ranh Military Base in Khanh Hoa Province on Sunday, the top legislator urged the Navy to take the lead in all areas, particularly in safeguarding national sovereignty over the seas and islands, developing science and technology, promoting innovation, and advancing digital transformation.
He stressed the need to build a politically strong Navy with a clean and comprehensively strong Party organization. Particular attention should be paid to improving personnel’s knowledge and understanding of the law, especially international law and international agreements related to Vietnam’s seas and islands.
The National Assembly President also called for building an elite, combat-ready Navy with high mobility and strong combat capabilities.
He further urged the Navy to play a stronger role in public communications on the country’s seas and islands while continuing to support fishermen.
