He said during an interview with the Vietnam News Agency that the first State visit to New Zealand by a Vietnamese President since 2007 comes at an important point in a relationship built over more than 50 years through trade, education, development cooperation, security ties, and links between people.
Mr. Lam’s visit, which will include high-level talks, business meetings, and events addressing educational and cultural ties, will also advance cooperation in trade, investment, technology, agriculture, defense, and security.
Minister Peters noted that, in an uncertain world, the relationship between New Zealand and Vietnam matters, as the two countries share an interest in regional stability, open markets, international law, and a rules-based system.
