National Assembly Chairman Man held talks with President of the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire Patrick Achi after the welcoming ceremony for the guests in Hanoi.
During the talks, Mr. Man emphasized the role of legislative bodies in fostering a favorable environment for development and urged enhanced coordination in overseeing the negotiation, signing, and implementation of foundational agreements—such as the intergovernmental framework cooperation agreement, the double taxation avoidance agreement, and the agreement on investment promotion and protection.
The Vietnamese top legislator expressed his hope that the two legislatures will push to create a transparent and stable business environment to facilitate bilateral trade, aiming at a trade turnover of over 3–5 billion USD in the near future.
For his part, Mr. Achi said Vietnam’s success serves as an inspiration for African nations, noting that Vietnam’s development model could be a path for Côte d’Ivoire to consider in its own national construction and development process.
Impressed by the National Assembly's reforms in working methods and the application of science and technology, the President of Côte d'Ivoire’s National Assembly called on the Vietnamese National Assembly to share its experiences in law-making and supporting economic development—particularly in agriculture, fisheries, technical and vocational training, public finance management, and innovation—as well as insights into reforming parliamentary operations.
Regarding multilateral cooperation, the two leaders affirmed their commitment to strengthening consultations and mutual support at international forums, especially multilateral parliamentary bodies such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF).
National Assembly Chairman Man expressed his hope that Côte d'Ivoire will support Vietnam in strengthening substantive relations with the African Union (AU) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). He reiterated Vietnam's readiness to serve as a bridge connecting Côte d'Ivoire with ASEAN and its member states.
