In his welcoming address, Mr. Phuc underscored the importance of rivers in the history of human development. Major rivers in the region, including the Yangtze, Ganges, Mekong-Lancang, Red, Irrawaddy, and Chao Phraya, have created livelihoods for people living along them, connecting cultures and boosting trades among communities and regions. He asked member countries of the Great Mekong Sub-region to enhance efforts to ensure peace and boost cooperation development for the sub-region’s sustainable prosperity.
